Metronome Prague

Non only amazing program but also visitor’s comfort and convenience

50 artists, 8 stages, 3 movie presentations, artist installations, festival street food zone and especially varied non-musical program from afternoon through concerts of foreign and domestic music stars to the afterparty that will end in early morning hours! All this makes a promise of the Fifth Metronome Prague. In June 22–25th, the guests at the Showground will experience a truly top cultural event. The event offers a top-notch program featuring world’s names such as Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds, Beck and Underworld. Besides the very program Metronome Prague allures to comfort conditions for every visitor. Actually this is what the organizers have applied from the very beginnings and have improved each year. Finally they have built a top music European festival where visitors, besides high-quality music, will experience top sound, an amphitheater with mood, roofed and open-air stages, good food and drinks without queues, functional broad-band wi-fi or enough seats. Last tickets can be bought at www.metronome.cz. The promoters also announced that one of the stages named Tree stage will be accessible to the audience for free.

“We are very much looking forward to seeing all the performers, the audience from all over the world. Thank you all for your interest. We will enjoy the long-prepared Metronome Prague 2022 together in a week. We encourage all ticket holders, whether they bought their tickets in 2019 or are still planning to purchase them on the Metronome website, to check all tickets to make sure they are valid and dated for this year. We have sent them to everyone who had tickets for the rescheduled years as well. If you are unsure if you have the correct tickets, email us at info@metronomefestival.cz . See you next week”, said David Gaydečka. The last tickets for the fifth edition of Metronome Prague are still on sale on the official website of the event. They are currently available, but the price will increase before the festival.

Metronome Prague is not just music

If Metronome Prague visitors want to take a break from live music, they can choose from a number of items on the festival’s non-music programme. Three film screenings await them in the venue itself, which should definitely not escape the attention of cinema lovers. The Czech premiere of the documentary Never Forget Tibet / The Dalai Lama’s Untold Story will take place on the Moon Stage. For the first time, the details of the Dalai Lama’s escape from Tibet, his life in exile and many other events and contemporary thoughts are mentioned.

The theatrical component of the programme will be represented by the current technological project Brejlando. Its uniqueness lies in theatrical experiences in virtual reality. Using the latest technologies and rented VR goggles, the audience can watch productions of Prague theatres directly from the stage, in close proximity to the actors. The action takes place all around the viewer, and so close that the actors are at their fingertips.

Of course, Metronome Prague can’t miss an exhibition on a current topic. The exhibition “Long Road to Independence – History of Ukraine in the 20th Century” was prepared by the association Thanks We Can! consisting of thirty students and young people, in cooperation with the Memory of the Nation organization.

Interesting workshops will be offered, such as an IT course for women, an animation school for children and teenagers, or a workshop where visitors will make their own bar foots, dry shampoo and seed-bombs. The Opera Forum will offer interesting debates.

A stay in the area you will remember

The ambition of the organizers of Metronome Prague is to provide visitors with such a comfortable cultural experience that they will return enthusiastically to the venue repeatedly and will be happy to stay there for the duration of the show. This is, of course, especially helped by the rich refreshment offer. The organizers have been carefully selecting quality suppliers from the start. In the repertoire of stallholders this year, people will find everything from vegan bistro to delicious Tex-Mex, burgers, pizzas, pancakes, gelato or Middle Eastern cuisine. Metronome Prague cooperates with Pilsner brewery to offer quality beer, and a separate chapter is the summer mixed drinks, which are covered by the team from the Lidi z Baru company with their professional approach to bar service and years of experience in the industry. At the same time, wine lovers can discover wine bars among the stalls, offering wines from Moravia and South Africa.

In addition to catering, Metronome Prague will also provide other visitor bonuses rarely seen at other festivals. Ceramic flush toilets with sinks, paper towels and soap, illuminated pathways, rest and green zones, meeting points, luggage storage, ATM, quality Wi-Fi coverage or charging stations will be available throughout the venue. People will also find a children’s zone or info boards with information about public transport departures at the Exhibition Centre. “We will also inform music fans on the ledges in the area about how the stages are filling up, which sides have more space and we will bring concert schedules or information about the current weather,” add the organisers, who have prepared a comfortable check-in for the audience for all payments. All outlets selling refreshments and other services will accept payments by all types of credit cards, phones or smart watches. The smooth running of all transactions will be ensured by NFC tron and Wi-Fi partner CETIN. This will both contribute to customer convenience and speed of check-in. No one has to count money and there will be fewer queues.

Metronome will present unique concert specials and the contemporary club scene.

The trio of headliners from Thursday to Saturday will be joined by international artists such as Oh Wonder, Lola Marsh, Chris Jagger, Everything Everything, Balthazar. British rapper Flohio will appear for hip hop. The organizers estimate that the so-called black horses of the programme, the names that will get you going, will be singers Emily Burns, Lusaint from the UK or American singer-songwriter Melissa Lingo, as well as the oft-mentioned Slovak project Lash & Grey.

Already the day before the main part of Metronome Prague opens, on Wednesday 22 June, a concert by Ukrainian Freedom Voices will take place in Křižík Hall B at the Prague Exhibition Center. The dramaturgy was based on the popularity of invited artists such as NK, Alekseev or Jerry Heil right at home in Ukraine, with the aim of pleasing Ukrainian refugees who are currently residing in the Czech Republic and have no access to live music from their homeland. At the same time, of course, it was taken into account that the performers should also reach out to the local audience and thus deepen the Czech awareness of the music that is produced in Ukraine and is popular with the audience.

About Metronome Prague:

Metronome Prague Festival is the first major music and art festival held in Prague. Its 5th edition was originally planned for 2020, was postponed to 2021 due to the covid-19 pandemic and is currently postponed to 2022 for the same reason. The ambition of the festival is to reach all ages and genres of listeners. It relies on the current events in progressive music, but does not neglect the still vibrant classics of various genres. The festival’s dramaturgy does not forget domestic performers, who often offer a unique programme, such as the return of the Sexy Dancers in the past years or the combination of J.A.R. and the gospel choir Maranatha or Ivan Kral with Jiří Suchý.

The Metronome Prague festival has been attended by stars such as Kraftwerk, Primal Scream, Liam Gallagher, Morcheeba, Sting, Iggy Pop, Foals, Chemical Brothers, Kasabian, Tom Odell, Ella Eyre, David Byrne, John Cale and Massive Attack. From the domestic scene, Ohm Square, Floex, Ille, Tata Bojs and David Koller and Katarzija performed. Nearly 20,000 visitors came to the last edition of the festival in 2019
